Legion Road Charrette Follow Up

By April 9, 2017 Announcements

Pickleball Enthusiasts,

THANK YOU to everyone who was able to attend Saturday’s charrette for gathering input on development of the Legion Road site.   Our whole group had a very productive session with Dan Jewel, who headed up the charrette. Some of us  also spoke privately with other planning members afterwards.

During this charrette we were able to strongly represent our interests and plans for growth.  Dan was very impressed with our group, our plans, and our enthusiasm.   Additionally, individual planning members expressed interest and enthusiasm about pickleball as well even expressing their intention to become personally involved with play.   As a result we feel very positive about the reception to our request not only for a new, large, outdoor pickleball facility but also for indoor courts at the proposed new Legion Road recreation center.   Feedback after our meeting was inspiring. No other group was as articulate, as well represented or as positive about growth .
We will keep you posted as the Legion Road process continues.  In the interim please continue telling everyone you know how great pickleball is in Chapel Hill, and how much we need additional courts. Encourage others to join us on the court. Remember, our goal is not only to acquire twenty-four new, state-of-the-art pickleball courts but also to develop ourselves and our players as the most adept as well as most welcoming and inclusive pickleball group anywhere.
See you on the courts.
