Play at the Community Center requires mandatory payment of a fee for entry. Fees for Orange County residents are $2/session or $60 annually. For out-of -county residents the fees are $3/session or $96/year.

Enter the Recreation Center and check in at the front desk and pay necessary fees.  Then walk straight through to the gymnasium. If new, ask to speak to one of the coaches.

Open play for all levels of pickleball players. Equipment provided if you don’t have your own.

Multiple players usually attend this indoor event. Three courts open. Water and restrooms available. Just wear athletic shoes and come prepared to have FUN!

If you are new to pickleball this is a GREAT time to learn. We offer FREE lessons by appointment on M-W-F before regular play begins. Just contact us in advance here on the website for details. We have Certified Pickleball Coaches available to assist you with your introduction to the game.

Important Notice

Beginners are encourage to participate in our free Orientation Program before beginning play.  Also, a signed liability waiver may be required by the Recreation Center before any pickleball play is allowed at the Center.

Ephesus Park

Six dedicated outdoor courts are located just behind and to the right of Ephesus School. Use the entrance on right (as you face school from street) and stay to right. Additional parking at school. Check our Calendar for current organized play schedule. Otherwise available for Free Play to all.

Court Use Policy

Certain times of the week the courts are reserved for programmed activities. Court #6 is generally available for open play.  For more information on the courts, to see the current program schedule, as well as learn more about pickleball opportunities in Chapel Hill please consult our calendar.

The rest of the time these courts are available for open play. During open play as long as there are open courts, play is on a first come first served basis.

If there are players waiting to play then players on each court should rotate off after playing one game to 11 (or for playing for 15 minutes if you prefer to not play a game).   They are replaced by four players at head of queue waiting to play.  To queue up for the next available game put your paddle in the “Paddle Saddle” holder.  The switch for the lights is on the pole near the tennis courts.

Facing the Hargraves Center the Gym is on the left. Access to the Gym is on the left of the gym building. Parking is to the right of the Hargrave Center.

Two courts open for all levels of play. Water and restrooms available. Just bring your gear, wear athletic shoes and come to have FUN!
