Hit the white tape

Ok, I’m just going to say it. Many of you are so afraid of making a mistake that you set up your opponent to hammer your partner or you. What do I mean by this? Well, if you are at least willing to hit a ball deep enough to your opponents back court line–risking it going out–or don’t keep the ball low enough to tap the white tape at the top of the net as it travels over, you simply are too afraid to hit a good shot correctly rather than hit the safe shot. Hitting the ball Safe never helps you learn how to hit the ball right.

What’s wrong with just missing the shot and having it hit the white tape at the top of the net only to fall back into your court. If you hit it too high you or your partner will pay the price quickly. I will never ever complain to my partner if he or she hits the white tape at the top of the net whether hit hard or soft. I know they are playing hard and smart and this is what will get results in the long term. Be aggressive. Miss a few long because you want to keep your opponent back so you can take over the net. Hit it deep … get to the front and get your paddle up, you will quickly become the winner you are destined to be. Go ahead and tickle that white tape for me, soon you’ll love that feeling as much as I do.

Play well, Vance
